Porcelain Art RMS Titanic Set Soup & Consommé Bowls, Side Plates, Napkin Rings
Porcelain Art RMS Titanic Set: Soup & Consommé Bowls, Side Plates, Napkin Rings. Rose might recognise the items in this set, but Jack definitely wouldn’t – produced by Porcelain Art and the very epitome of Edwardian high class style, they’re a replica of the china used to serve the fabulously wealthy and aristocratic First Class passengers aboard the ill-fated RMS Titanic on her maiden – and final – voyage. The pattern was originally designed by Copeland Spode and manufactured at their factory in Stoke-on-Trent, exclusively for use aboard the Titanic. Porcelain Art have been able to use the original designs so that these are exact replicas – not only the pattern, but the size and shape too. The set certainly ticks the boxes for class. 4x 22.2cm soup bowls. 5x 15.2cm side plates. 3x 16cm consommé bowls. These mismatched numbers suggest they’re the remnants of a larger set for at least six place settings. However, that so many pieces have been lost is rather odd because the set has been very carefully looked after – all of the pieces included here are in excellent condition with no indication that they were ever used, and whilst there may not be enough here for a dinner party the collection would be perfect in a more intimate stetting such as, for example, a couple enjoying dinner together.
